What should you do if you have one or more stained notes?
Compare your note with those displayed on the poster. If it does not look like an accidental stain but rather what you see on the poster, there is a chance it is a stained note.
Take the following steps:
• Go to a branch of your bank or post office or, if necessary, to the counter at the Banque de France taking with you a personal ID and a bank ID to request reimbursement for the stained notes.
• Here, you will fill out a form specifying the circumstances under which you received this note and you will provide your banking information.
This note will be sent with your statement to the Banque de France processing centre which will analyse it and be able to reimburse you if it is a real note and your claim was made in good faith.
